Delete your account
Last updated 18 August 2026
You can ask us to delete your Spolu account and the data stored with it at any time, and you do not need the app installed to do it. This page is the request procedure.
Which app this is
Spolu — the shared money app for couples and small groups, published on Google Play as com.getspolu.mobile. It is run by an individual, not a company: Janko Hrasko, Slovakia, the same developer named on the Play listing and in our privacy policy. Anything on this page: inbox@getspolu.com.
How to ask for deletion
- Email inbox@getspolu.com from the address you sign in to Spolu with, with Delete my account as the subject.
- We reply to that address to confirm the request really came from you. Answer that reply — that is the whole check, and we ask for nothing else.
- We delete the account and the data listed below, and email you when it is done.
Nothing needs to be installed or signed into to make the request — an email is enough. If you can no longer reach the address you signed up with, write to us from any address, say so, and we will ask for something else that ties you to the account (for example the name of a group you are in) before we delete anything.
What we delete
- Your sign-in account — your email address, your password, and the account identifier, all held by Amazon Cognito. The account stops existing; you cannot sign in again afterwards.
- Your private synced data — the personal side of your ledger that syncs to our servers so a new device can restore it: personal accounts, personal budgets, and transfers between your own accounts.
- Your receipt photos — every image you uploaded for scanning. They are stored under a folder belonging to your account only, and the whole folder goes.
- Your group memberships — the records saying which groups you belong to, and any invite codes you created that nobody has used yet. The codes stop working.
- Your analytics choice and analytics data — the record of whether you opted in, and, if you did, we ask Google to delete the Firebase analytics and crash-report data for your installation.
- The copy on your phone is yours to remove: uninstalling Spolu deletes the local database with it. Deleting the account does not wipe a phone you still hold.
What we keep, and for how long
- What you shared into a group stays in that group. Expenses, settlements, budgets, and joint accounts you marked as shared are also the other members' records — their balances and their history are built out of them, so removing your entries would rewrite what they see and what they are owed. Those entries stay in the group's ledger after your account is gone. When the last member of a group deletes their account, the group and everything in it is deleted too.
- Backups: up to 35 days. Our database keeps a rolling 35-day recovery window so it can be restored after a failure. Deleted data ages out of that window within 35 days, and we never restore a single deleted account out of it.
- Server logs: 14 days. Request logs record the account identifier and never the contents of your ledger. They expire on their own after two weeks.
- The launch mailing list is separate. If you gave us your email address on this website, that list is not part of your app account: deleting the account does not unsubscribe you, and unsubscribing does not delete the account. Use the unsubscribe link in any of those emails, or ask us and we will remove you.
- Nothing is kept for accounting law. Spolu takes no payments, so there are no invoices or payment records we are obliged to hold on to.
How long it takes
We act on requests as soon as we can, and within 30 days at the outside — the limit the GDPR sets. You get an email when the deletion is done. If something makes it take longer, we will tell you before the month is up rather than let the deadline pass quietly.
If you want less than a full deletion
You do not have to delete the account to get rid of data. In the app you can delete individual expenses, remove an account or a group, or turn analytics off in Profile. For anything else — a copy of your data, a correction, or deleting one particular thing — write to inbox@getspolu.com; the rights you have and how we handle them are in the privacy policy.
